The Meals That Matter — Contributor Archive
"I hadn't made it since she died. The moment the smell hit me, eleven years just disappeared." — Elena, writing about her grandmother's sofrito from Valencia
Step 1 of 4
Tell us about a dish that carries a memory. It doesn't need to be famous — it just needs to be real.
The strongest stories are specific. Not "it reminded me of home" but "the kitchen window was open and I could hear the neighbours arguing across the fence." Specificity is what makes a story matter.
Aim for at least 100 words. There's no upper limit — write as much as the story needs.
Leave blank and we'll find one for you from your story.
Step 2 of 4
Two photos bring your story to life. The first appears full-width at the top. The second sits between your story and the recipe.
Natural light works best. The dish doesn't need to be perfect — real is better than polished. A photo taken at the table you actually ate at is worth more than a styled studio shot.

Wide landscape orientation works best here

A close-up or overhead shot works well here
Step 3 of 4
Add the dish details, ingredients, and method. Be as detailed or as loose as the recipe actually is — some of the best recipes are "until it looks right."
Where does this dish come from — geographically, culturally, or in your family?
Groups help organise a complex dish — e.g. "The dough", "The filling", "The sauce". For simple dishes, one group is fine.
